Hamano Masato or Julie Owens is a fashion and textiles from Nottingham. She studied at Nottingham University after discovering a passion for textiles. Her range contains bright floral patterns which are heavily influenced by early Japanese art and Buddhism. Japanese art covers a variety of art styles such as ink painting, and recently, a very popular manga – Japanese cartooning and comics. Some of her Japanese textile pieces were originally produced by silk screen printing which was a popular style of art in the 60’s and 70’s. She often uses a variety of vector based minimal designs to 70’s inspired retrograde textiles in her work which are seen throughout the range.
