When it comes to moving with times
and ensuring you are following the latest art trends, quite simply
British wall art is this year's choice of art.
As the summer is just around the
corner there are many major events happening in the world of sport
such as The London Olympics and the Football European Championships,
thousands if not millions will be supporting British participants in
these events due to an overwhelming national pride.
Also the summer marks the start of
hundreds of music festivals showcasing the very best in British music
talent, many union jacks, clothing and accessories relating to
Britain on display for all to see. For these reasons alone British
wall art has become the number one 2012 art must have.
We have a huge range in house of many
different styles, designs and images of British
wall art including sporting heroes, musicians, actors and other
well known national treasures. Our range also includes cult British
images such as the Mini, vintage maps of London, landmarks and of
course the Union Jack.
However you choose to showcase your
national pride for all to see, we can help. As with our music art
range we have chosen to create stunning pieces of British
wall art from over the decades featuring heroes and images from
all walks of life.
For sporting fans why not consider
images of stars such as Ricky Hatton, Paul Gascoigne, 1966 World Cup
and Linford Christie; all of these have made huge impacts on their
respective sports at different times over the years and will be
instantly recognisable by anyone viewing them.
If you are a lover of music and film,
again we have an excellent selection of icons such as Michael Caine,
Mick Jagger, Ian Brown, Paul Weller and Sir Jimmy Saville to name
just a few. As with sports icons these loveable legends will light up
any wall and leave people admiring your taste in British wall art.
Burning of Modern Art
in Naples - Protest or Tragedy?
The art world and cultural institutes
have been hit hard by Government cutbacks and the global economic
downturn, WhoArtNow were quite shocked to hear the news that one
museum curator in Naples has begun to burn works of modern art
in protest at their budgets being cut.
As a forward thinking creator and
retailer of contemporary, bespoke
wall art ourselves, it has left us wondering how we would feel at
the thought of one of our own pieces of work that has taken a lot of
time and effort to perfect being burned in protest.
There has been a mixed reaction as
this story today began to be circulated by the global media, some
people completely support the museum chief's actions, whilst others
are condemning it as a waste of an artists hard work.
Antonio Manfredi, who is the head of
the Casoria Contemporary Modern Art Museum in Naples has planned to
burn three pieces of art per week in a bid to make the Government
take notice and do something about cultural cutbacks. Manfredi
himself is not saying what they are doing is right, in fact quite the
opposite but he feels it is justified in order to get the attention
they deserve,
Other local Naples artists are
joining the cause and there are fears that this could become a
widespread protest; obviously the greatest fear for lovers of art and
artists alike is that their creations and works of art they admire
will be destroyed and lost forever.
The Mayor of Naples has also
criticised the protest and feels that their council has supported the
local cultural community as much as possible in the wake of national
and international cutbacks. It remains to be seen if this will gather
pace throughout Italy, hopefully action can be taken to ensure these
pieces of contemporary wall art
remain safe.
WhoArtNow would like to ask the
question; do you support the burning of art in protest or do you feel
it is a tragic waste of art?
Some artists were born
to make history and leave their mark on the pop art world forever.
Sir Peter Blake, a legendary pop artist whose work includes creating
the pop art sleeve of The Beatles iconic, classic album Sergeant
Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band is one of those artists who will
never be forgotten.
Known affectionately as The Godfather
of pop
art, Blake has massive connections and experience in creating pop
art for some of music's biggest artists and bands such as Oasis, Paul
Weller, The Who and as mentioned The Beatles.
From May 1st – 13th,
his work will be on display at a pop art exhibition at the Drang
Gallery in Padstow, Cornwall. The exhibition is going to feature over
40 years of his work which should provide great inspiration and food
for thought for any pop art fan or indeed pop artist looking to make
an impact.
At the age of 80, Sir Peter Blake has
created a pop art legacy in the UK that is unrivalled, this legacy is
sure to continue and be an inspiration for countless decades, if not
centuries to come.
There is also a preview evening which
is an invitation only event on April 30th between the
hours of 18:00 – 20:00, as with the exhibition this is sure to be
an event that provides a great insight into the skills of a genuine
pop art
legend.
If you are a follower of pop art
trends, a fan of Sir Peter Blake or you like to create your own pop
art, why not go along and meet The Godfather of pop art himself, it
is sure to be a fantastic couple of weeks for the art world.

Could Art be the Answer to Improving Youth Unemployment
In the UK we have a
very real problem with youth unemployment which is putting increased
pressure on an already massively strained economy and the nation’s
financial resources.
School leavers looking
to get work and earn a living are finding jobs hard to come by,
apprenticeships have declined over the past five years and employers
are turning to skilled workers ahead of training staff. This results
in many young people claiming benefits and not looking for work
opportunities.
How could art help with
this crisis?
The answer is that art
could provide many opportunities for young people to either gain
employment or launch their own business to make money for themselves.
Currently the school education system does not make it compulsory for
children to do art classes or take art exams after the age of 14.
When it comes to choosing GCSE’s, many youngsters overlook art in
favour of other subjects that may be deemed as more important.
This could be down to
parental pressure or personal preference; either way the education
system could make it compulsory for children to continue art as a
primary subject. The argument for this and perhaps the most important
reason is that we are in a hugely technological and internet
influenced era.
If children left school
with photo shop design skills, web design, logo design or any other
design or creative flair then they could either gain employment with
an internet business, design agency or decide to launch their own
business.
Only yesterday a
Government report announced that education ministers may have put too
much importance on subjects such as maths, English and science,
whilst overlooking creative subjects such as art and drama.
Hopefully the hierarchy
will take notice and put more importance on art, it is a very real
possibility that it could help to decrease levels of youth
unemployment and create a new wave of skilled business owners,
workers and entrepreneurs.
WhoArtNow
would welcome new flair and the canvas art and canvas prints
industry, who knows; we could be showcasing this ability in the near
future!

A fantastic & innovative piece of street art - a "tribute to Steve Jobs" -- produced on Bond Street, London. Each railing has been meticulously painted to achieve this 3D effect. We think it's Geniuous.
Portuguese-born artist & innovator Vhils, known for sculpting art directly into surfaces, has put a video together ahead of the Fame fest 2011. Making good use of his trademark skills, like Drills and hammers, he produced yet another amazing selection of art that keeps him up there as one of the most exciting new artists in the world. That Pizza looks damn good too ;)) enjoy
Starting with a fresh space, then commencing the piece with kissing away at it, her lips dabbed with colour...
This is the work of a unique artist. Instead of using a paintbrush, this inovative artist puts the paint brush down and works with her lips to create a portrait of Monroe.
By varying the pressure of her kisses, she can create huge pieces with a unique look.
In a recent video uploaded to Youtube, Ms Irish creates a portrait of American Movie icon Marilyn Monroe, only with the use of her puckered lips. 'I was getting ready one night and put on a bit of lipstick. I blotted it on a piece of paper and it came to me.
'I started experimenting and decided Marilyn Monroe would be the perfect candidate for a portrait with kisses!'
Ms Irish admitted that her lips get very tired, and that she owns 'many tubes of both chapstick & lipstick.
